Questions anglers ask.
Which states does RiverFinn cover? +
Colorado, Montana, Michigan, Washington and Oregon today. Every supported section is listed on the supported waters page. You can ask for a river from inside the app; requests are grouped and decide what RiverFinn investigates next.
Where does the flow number come from? +
From the USGS or Colorado DWR gauge attached to the reach, with its observation time and a link to the station. RiverFinn never estimates a flow.
Why does a river say "no live reading" for temperature? +
Because there is no thermometer on that stretch. RiverFinn shows the gap rather than modelling a temperature from the air.
What is the Conditions Score? +
A read of flow, flow trend, water temperature and wind against what the reach's species prefer. It only appears when enough of those inputs are actually measured, and a verified hard limit — a 70 °F reading, for example — caps it.
Does a good score override a closure? +
Never. A mandatory closure shows as CLOSED on the map, the card and the river page ahead of any score. Voluntary advisories are shown as advisories.
Where do closures come from? +
From the state wildlife agencies. Colorado, Montana and Washington are checked automatically; for Michigan and Oregon RiverFinn links to the agency's own page because those agencies do not publish per-reach notices RiverFinn can read.
What does Finn know? +
The same readings, forecasts, closures and rules the app shows for your saved and nearby waters, with their observation times. Finn does not invent hatches, flows or rules, and tells you when something is not measured.
Is there a free tier? +
Yes. Two waters per supported state in full, up to 3 saved waters, a weekend outlook, closures and alerts, and 5 questions a day for Finn. RiverFinn Pro opens every water, unlimited saves and unlimited questions.
How do subscriptions work? +
Through the App Store or Google Play, in your currency. Cancel from your device's subscription settings; access lasts until the end of the paid term.
Does RiverFinn use my location? +
Only if you allow it, and only to rank nearby rivers and answer Finn. Coordinates are never stored with your account and never sent to analytics.
How do I report wrong data? +
From the app: the Feedback door in Ask Finn, or ask Finn to report it. A person reads every report.
